Your Base: Trigonos, Snowdonia
Trigonos is more than accommodation — it’s a place that allows adventure days to land properly.
Set in the quiet Nantlle Valley within Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park, Trigonos provides a calm, welcoming base for multi-day outdoor experiences. After full days moving through gorges, mountains, coastline, and cold water, returning to warmth, good food, and stillness matters. Trigonos delivers that balance.
This is one of the reasons ActiveCymru chose Trigonos as the home for our residential adventure programmes.

About Trigonos
A Place That Supports Adventure
Trigonos offers comfortable shared accommodation in a peaceful mountain setting, with space to rest, refuel, and reconnect between activity days.
Included as standard during your stay:
-
Comfortable shared bedrooms
-
Breakfasts and evening meals included
-
Warm, hearty, well-prepared food cooked on site
-
Communal lounges and shared spaces for relaxing or reflecting
-
Quiet surroundings away from roads, crowds, and busy centres
The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious — designed to help groups unwind, sleep well, and be ready for the next day’s adventure.
Food That Refuels You Properly
Food is a key part of any residential experience, especially when you’re active all day.
Trigonos serves a generous vegetarian continental-style breakfast each morning (08:30–09:30), including cereals, porridge, yogurt, homemade bread and preserves, fruit, eggs, cheeses, teas, and fresh coffee. Many ingredients are grown on site using organic and biodynamic principles.
Evening meals are warm, filling, and thoughtfully prepared — ideal for refuelling tired bodies and bringing groups together at the end of the day.
Depending on your itinerary, packed lunches or afternoon lunches at Trigonos are included to support full days outdoors.
A Shared Ethos
Trigonos was established in 1996 as a not-for-profit social enterprise, created to offer space for retreat, learning, and meaningful connection. That ethos aligns closely with how ActiveCymru approaches outdoor adventure.
Like us, Trigonos values:
-
Care for people and place
-
Environmental responsibility
-
Thoughtful use of land
-
Experiences that feel human, grounded, and well-considered
Now part of Ruskin Mill Trust, Trigonos continues to operate with a strong sense of purpose, fairness, and stewardship — values that underpin every residential programme we run here.
Location: Quiet, Wild, and Well-Placed
Trigonos sits in the Nantlle Valley, close to Caernarfon and surrounded by mountains, lakes, and slate quarry landscapes. The location offers excellent access to:
-
Mountain terrain and quieter Snowdon routes
-
Remote river gorges and canyoning venues
-
Wild swimming locations
-
The North Wales coastline
-
Dorothea Quarry — a unique historic landscape explored as part of some itineraries
The area forms part of the UNESCO World Heritage Slate Landscape of Northwest Wales, adding depth, context, and a strong sense of place to your stay.
Why Trigonos Works for Residential Adventures
Residential experiences work best when the base supports the days, rather than competing with them.
Trigonos offers:
-
Calm without isolation
-
Comfort without fuss
-
Space without distraction
It allows groups to focus on adventure, connection, and shared experience — which is exactly what these programmes are designed to deliver.
